LOOKBOOK: GIGI BURRIS Hats are the new Starbucks cups. Are you looking for a new accessory that's cheaper than a status bag, but just as runway friendly? Check out Gigi Burris, the Manhattan designer whose creations have topped Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and half the girls in the Lower East Side....

Burri's work reconceptualized modernist collage. His use of unconventional materials profoundly influenced Arte Povera, Neo-Dada, and Process art. Alberto Burri: The Trauma of Painting is on view at the Guggenheim October 9 – January 6.

Burri also recalls his iconic 1960 São Paulo photograph 'Men on a Rooftop, 1960', shooting the San Cristobal Stables in Mexico city in 1976 and the reopening of the Suez Canal in 1974, explaining why modern techniques like photoshopping are getting in the way of our pursuit for the truth....

As her inspirations, Burris sites legends such as Jeanne Lanvin and Gabrielle Chanel, who also began their fashion careers as milliners. Following in their footsteps? Not a bad gig for a 23-year-old. . .or any one for that matter. Hats off to you, Gig! Au Revoir!
