Rochas History: from Marcel Rochas to Marco Zanini
Marcel Rochas is one if these names of the French fashion world who changed the History of clothing during the first half of the twentieth century. His Fashion House was opened in 1925 to develop his need to go against the style of the times. The trend was indeed the tomboy woman and Marcel Rochas will right from the start design collections with very feminine lines. He would be the first one to make shorter coats, skirts with pockets and goddesses evening gowns – like the mermaid dress. In 1953 though, he decided to close his House in order to develop his beauty and perfume label, before passing away two years later. Rochas will become once again a fashion label in 1990 with Petre O’Brien as the creative designer, followed by Olivier Theyskens in 2002. Theyskens looked back on what brought success to Rochas in the first place and redesigned historical items. Marco Zanini has been in charge of the collections since 2008.
The Rochas handbag style
The label offers different types of handbags and clutches in its luxury accessory collections. Each one of its bags is made in quality leather that will last and soft under the hand. The designs are thought to bring simplicity and elegance together, and the label always manages to surprise with the ways colors are used, mixing unexpected shades together.
The Rochas tote
Rochas is particularly known for its leather totes, coming back each season in new collections. Here again, Rochas uses quite a basic shape but rethinks it with chic and originality through an uncommon way of using colors. The tote is very nice when made of two shades, with a large stripe on the bottom of the bag. Quite large, the Rochas tote is perfect for everyday.
