The label and designer Gérard Darel

The French designer Gérard Darel is quite famous for his leather goods and particularly for his 24h bag. The label was born in 1971 when a couple – Gérard Gerbi and Danielle Gerbi-Darel – decided to give a try to ready-to-wear clothing in Paris. They quickly managed to gain success with their nice collections and the name Darel became important on the French fashion scene. At the beginning of the 2000s, the label decided to go through a second youth by reinventing itself, looking for a new kind of customers and a more modern style. Darel choose Charlotte Gainsbourg as a new icon to touch women with a Parisian, active and young mind.

The 24h bag

Made in 2003, the 24h bag is one of the label’s must-haves, if not the most important. Large soft leather handbag, it is also sometimes called the Charlotte by Darel, as a tribute to Charlotte Gainsbourg who then was the label’s muse. A practical bag, the 24h – as it names shows it – was thought to follow a woman during 24h of her life. Its shape is long and it can be carried by the arm or hand, but also sometimes come with a strap for the shoulder. The 24h has not stopped being a huge success since it first came out and is still part of all the new collections by Gérard Darel. You will find it in different colors, and also in a bigger size called the 36h.

The Simple Gérard Darel bag

The Simple bag by Gérard Darel has a name that perfectly suits its style. The Simple is indeed very … simple. Large tote made of leather, you will find it in many colors and effects, from a classic black to a metallic silver or snake skin.
